Newcastle transfer target Aly CissokhoAly Cissokho’s agent Pierre Mathey is in England this week to discuss a potential move to the Premier League for the French left back, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle circling.

According to TMV, Mathey flew to England over the weekend in an attempt to secure a move for his client to English football and to field any questions posed by the men in charge at the respective clubs.

The Premier League has long been known to be Cissokho’s preferred destination after a January move failed to materialise.

The 24-year-old of Senegalese has been unhappy at Lyon for some time and it appears that the Ligue 1 outfit feel the same way.

Lyon Chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is looking to get rid of players who have a negative influence on his squad and it appears that Cissokho is one of them.

In regards to his left back, Aulas said: “It seems Cissokho’s agent has changed [his mind] and that he will go”, hence why his agent is in England this week.

Newcastle’s outlook on Cissokho will depend on the price that he’s available at, but also whether they can manage to secure right back Mathieu Debuchy from Lille.

It would be unlikely that Newcastle would buy Cissokho and Debuchy, but if they did that would be a serious level of intent shown by the Magpies.

As for Liverpool and Manchester United, well Brendan Rodgers is looking to stamp his mark at Anfield, while Patrice Evra’s form at Old Trafford has dipped of late.
