Newcastle target Vurnon AnitaDefensive midfielder Vurnon Anita is to meet with Ajax’s new Sporting Director and former Arsenal winger Marc Overmars with a view to clarify his future and push forward a dream move to Newcastle United according to Mirror Football.

The 23-year-old Dutch international has been one of Alan Pardew’s top Newcastle transfer targets this summer and the Magpies are looking to get some deals done and dusted as their pre-season schedule is already underway.

It is being reported that Premier League trio Sunderland, Aston Villa and Norwich City are all interested in Anita, but that Newcastle are the only side to have made a bid, with their offer of £5 million falling short of Ajax’s £8m valuation of their starlet.

Anita however, is clearly weighing up his future and may be prepared to leave the Eredivisie for a crack at English football and the opportunity to increase his pay packet at such an early time in his football career.

He told Mirror Football: “I’ve two years left on my contract. But I want some clarity from Ajax about my future. We are having a meeting with Marc Overmars, the club’s new sporting director, to get a clear view of what the club wants.”

His agent Harry Lulofs sees the benefits of a move for his client as well, stating: “There is serious interest from Newcastle. A move to the Premier League is so tempting for him. We have to resolve the situation quickly.”

That is something that Newcastle and Pardew will want to do too, but Ajax stand in their way, with their coach Frank De Boer saying that: “We’ll do all we can to try and keep Vurnon here. He’s a very valuable player.”

That is likely to be a sentiment shared by Marc Overmars, but can the former Arsenal winger stand in the way of Vurnon Anita’s move to Tyneside or will Newcastle be able to thrash out a deal for the young Dutchman?

If I was a betting man I’d put my money on the latter, and if you do like a flutter visit Bet at Home now and back Newcastle in the 2012/13 Premier League season.

Our bid was £3m not £5m and we were only testing the waters in case we received an “eye-watering” offer for Tiote .Anita is good , and next year would be a brilliant ( &cheaper) signing , but nothing will happen this year unless Tiote moves and we don’t want that , but have to plan in case it happens.
