Tim Krul - Newcastle away goalkeeper shirtYesterday saw the launch of the 2012/13 Newcastle United change kit and alongside that now we’ve got the Newcastle goalkeeper away shirt for next season, too.

This is only likely to be interest to you if you play in between the sticks, or you buy every single football shirt that Newcastle release, but next season we’ll be seeing Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul in green when he’s on the road playing away from St James’ Park.

The green goalkeeper shirt this season in particular has looked pretty tacky, with the old Northern Rock sponsorship covered in black and the Virgin logo above money. Why it’s different to the beige goalkeeper shirt I’ve got no idea!

Anyway, Puma have stuck with the traditional goalkeeper shirt colour of green, but have toned it down a little bit and made it darker. As you can see from the image below, there’s also a thick horizontal grey stripe along the top.

One interesting feature of the shirt is that it seems to have some sort of gripping material along the inside of the lower arm, which I presume is to try and ensure that Krul doesn’t spill any catches next season.

Next season’s goalkeeper shirt reminds me a little bit of the green snakeskin ‘keeper top that Shay Given wore for Newcastle back in the day, which was probably actually the last Newcastle goalkeeper shirt I bought.

Here’s the Newcastle away goalkeeper shirt for the 2012/13 Premier League season…
