Yohan Cabaye wearing Newcastle away shirtYesterday wasn’t a good day for Newcastle United, as Alan Pardew’s men fell to a 3-1 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park, meaning that the Magpies gave themselves no chance of Champions League qualification. However, it was an even worse day for French midfielder Yohan Cabaye, as not only did he play a part in Tim Cahill’s dismissal, but the Dreamboat also clashed with an Everton ball boy.

26-year-old Cabaye has been a revelation for Newcastle this season and after just one year in the Premier League has already built a solid reputation in English football. He has shown how solid he is technically and how great his passing range is, but he’s also shown that he’s not afraid to scrap either.

Yohan Cabaye let his frustrations get the better of him against Everton yesterday on two occasions. The one that caught the most attention resulted in Australian midfielder Tim Cahill getting sent off, as Cahill grabbed Cabaye by the throat. The two exchanged words, which Yohan already regrets and he was quick to make peace.

Cabaye made this statement: “I would like to apologise for the cross words I exchanged with Tim Cahill which resulted in his red card and my booking on the final whistle. It was unnecessary and, regrettably, the result of frustration and disappointment, all in the heat of the moment. It is out of character and for that I am sorry.”

But this wasn’t the only incident that Yohan was involved in yesterday as the Frenchman also clashed with an Everton ball boy as he attempted to get the ball back, which saw his roundly booed by the Goodison faithful.

However, Cabaye was again quick to try and smooth things over and as soon as the half-time whistle blew, Yohan ran over to the ball boy and gave him a hug…

Correct me if Im wrong, but hasn’t that Aussie ars*hole got a previous for this kind of thing ?
I’m sure he’s done this kind of thing before.

    • Beans Mcbeanus says:

      He’s not Australian…

    • Rob T says:

You wrote to correct you if you’re wrong ….”You’re wrong” Cahill’s not one to back down and get’s stuck in (as in he has a backbone), but he doesn’t grab people by the throat normally. That “ars*hole” Cabaye must have said something worth being choked for if he felt he had to apologise after. I notice he realised a grown man pushing a 10 year old didn’t look good on TV so had the sense to apologise for that as well.
Don’t have a problem with NUFC as a rule and wish you all the best for next season.

  • Dan says:

fully agree rob, well not the ars*hole part, but he must have said something pretty bad for him to apologise, id like to think it was down to the stress pressure and dissapointment of being behind and so close to the CL, but cabaye has done nothing more than get stuck in this year and seems a class act, i think he just had an off day, howay the lads!

  • J.C.W says:

bullying a kid is easy, cahill is a man, fuck with him, and you get all that is comeing to you.

  • bkue blood says:

so no images of cabaye pushing over a child? may aswell just pretend that never happened i guess

  • will says:

Im a Newcastle fan and I think in the interest of fairness you should include a picture of Cabaye pushing the kid. Oh and Cahill strangling Cabaye.

  • toony says:

Why are all these scousers all over our blogs ? Do they have nothing better to do ? Check out the footage of cabaye and the ball boy it was momentum of him grabbing the ball and the boy letting go of it that sat him in his seat and he went straight over to the lad gave him a hug and an apology at half time get over it.Cahill is australian with Samoan background supposedly a tough guy but sticks and stones and all that! He is big enough to take a few words from the little fella without that sort of response.

Big ground small club u ant got no history

      • Chris says:

Lol… Everton has history? Small club, tosh fans, dirty city full of thieves. Wise up mug and enjoy watching The Toon in Europe next season! Mug.

        • 1878 says:

So just the 4th most successful club in English history with no history then? Dixie Dean, 1985, 1995, when was the last time the barcodes won a trophy?

        • Felli says:

Looks to me, you need to evolve a few hundred years! Maybe then you’ll find enough courage to leave ye Ma’s!

  • DCMag says:

At least we all can’t stand Liverpool. A great season for both of us.

  • Andy Thompson says:

I was at the game and Cabaye spent the whole match running around smarting for a fight (which is all he did), he pushed that ball boy over because he was frustrated, he acted like a little bully because he was being outclassed on the pitch, clearly he has small man syndrome! He should display the same class that the Newcastle fans showed by clapping the McCann video at half time and singing gary speeds name. Banter aside that was a class act by a class set of fans. At the end of the day he deserved a whack for how he acted but equally Cahill deserved the red and Im surprised we’ve appealled it.

  • JP...from The Rock says:

It was out of Cabaye’s character as was Cahill’s throat choke. Both are great players and will no doubt feel awful for their actions. To be fair Cabaye did apologize instantly both to the ball boy and Cahill. I was disgusted when I saw the incident but when seconds or minutes in such an important match can cost millions to the club I can understand his frustration to an extent but what he did was still wrong and he was brave enough to admit it and say sorry to everyone.

first of all evertonians are on this page as its tagged as everton so it shows up on our blog aggregators.
i can understand what cabaye did and it wasnt that big of deal he didnt push the boy over on purpose but he was rough with him, as for the cahill thing he was pissed off and cahill gave him a slap and offered him out in the tunnel (which cabaye didnt take him up on) but where the hurt was done was after the ball boy incident the crowd were instantly on his case the noise rose and the atmosphere turned into something that all home fans want in any statdium – intimidating – newcastles front men looked like they could be dangerous if given a chance but the rest of the team were poor, couldnt retain possession at all and where as they started like that do you think they wouldve gotten better as the game went on? with a crowd on their back it was never going to happen and so where as you cant really blame one man for a bad team performance you could say he took the opportunity to improve during the match away from his team. to do it once is a mistake, if it happens again does it turn him into a liability?

  • TOON4LIFE. says:

    • blue says:

      • Alan says:

Haha, yeah now it’s alloys and sat navs. Gotta love banter.

        • Chris says:

Stereotype is dated? I travelled with a scoucer! He knicked 4 pairs of my Calvie K’s. Can’t get lower than that thieving people’s underwear. The only history Everton has is robbing and thieving and goodison constantly has a shadow cast over it by Anfield. Get off our blog. Mugs.

    • Grant says:

3-1… who the hell are newcastle? Oh, just a championship side having a spell in the Premier League. Another season or 2 and you’ll be down again.

  • Shepo says:

I sat right behind the ball boy when Yohan grabbed the ball while the kid still had hold of it pushing backwards as he took the ball off him.

Dont know what he said to Cahill, but I would of strangled the little shit for the way he behaved towards the young kid.

Andy Thompson – You got it spot on well said! Hats off to those fans who attended the game aand clapped during the Maddie video.

  • Alex says:

Just tell me when you last won the league or the cup or anything for that matter.People have been born, married had kid’s and died and never seen Newcastle win anything.Oh, if you want the dates of the above the league was in the 1920s.Now can anyone fill in the rest.Awaits abuse,
