Papiss Cisse and Alan PardewThere’s no way around it, to a large extent the hopes of Newcastle, and in turn Manchester United, against Manchester City at St James’ Park in the Premier League rest on the shoulders of our Senegalese star striker Papiss Cisse. We all know that Cisse is on fire and if Newcastle score the odds are that it will be Papiss that finds the back of the net. Man City manager Roberto Mancini has conceded that Cisse is a huge threat and if things had turned out differently, he could have been lining up for City against Newcastle this weekend, not the other way around!

The main man behind bringing Papiss Cisse to Tyneside was our Chief Scout Graham Carr. What you may or may not have known, is that Carr used to work at Man City under Sven-Goran Eriksson. According to Sky Sports, when he was working for Eriksson in 2005, Carr even had his eye on Cisse back then when he was playing in France for Metz. Carr really liked the then teenager and thought he would make a big impact in the Premier League – how right he was!

Graham Carr extensively watched young Cisse and recommended the Senegalese striker to Eriksson, who was in agreement that he was a great talent. Sven tried to push Cisse’s transfer to the north-west through, however was scuppered by passport and visa complications. Seven years later and Papiss has finally made it to the Premier League and as far as Newcastle are concerned, he couldn’t have come sooner.

Current Man City manager Mancini has singled out Cisse, as if he needed to, ahead of Sunday’s encounter. The Italian told Sky Sports that “Cisse is incredible. He scored two fantastic goals against Chelsea. He has 13 goals in 12 league games for Newcastle and he’s a good player. But not just him, their whole team is playing very well.” That’s reflected by the fact that Newcastle have won seven in eight and have made St James’ Park into a fortress.

It will need to be a fortress if Newcastle are going to get a result against Man City on Sunday, but if they do then Papiss Cisse will have a big role to play. I’m definitely glad he isn’t in the opposition’s starting eleven!

I hate headlines like that it sounds like Harry “The Bung” Rednapp leaning out of his window talking about other players.
Let me spell it out for you Papiss Cisse could have been a player for ANY team in the world, not just man city, man utd or arsenal or chelsea but some great teams anywhere in the world, but he didn’t and we went in for him and got him, so why the crap, missleading and quite frankly BORING headline as for the story it’s nothing that hasn’t been said before just sounds like a rewritton story i read 2-3 weeks ago

    • CiTyBlUe says:

Thats to much pressure to put on the shoulders of one player, you only set yourself up for disappointment.

  • Tommy Toonhead says:

Just let him have a quiet game against City so they can win. I think everyone is sick of United winning the Premier League, let’s have someone new. Never know it could be us challenging again next season.

    • CiTyBlUe says:

You’re a minority Tommy and a minority I believe are a credit to your club, however most of your fans want United to win and those are the fans I hate.

  • CiTyBlUe says:

Blah Blah blah, blu blu blu blah, blah, blah, blah blah blah, what a pathetic article. How many players of Sven’s reign are still at City?, answer: none

I sincerely hope we rip you apart on your own soil just like we ripped United apart on their own soil, I honestly hope that you fail to get champions League football because I just don’t like you Geordies.

All we have heard this week is how Newcastle are this and that, and how Newcastle are going to beat Manchester City.

fecking joke, all this talk about how hostile your stadium is blah blah, We have played in far more hostile stadiums this season and won.

Its pathetic seeing your fans and club acting like you’re out to do United a favour, whatever happened to wanting to beat us for your own benefits instead of for another fecking club that deserve nothing.

All of you have seem to forgotten all the bullsht you have also had to endure at the hands of United fans, instead you prefer to favour those idiots and don’t try tell me it has nothingto do with Nigel Dejong.

I backed him 110% like the rest of our fans and club, it was an accident but you priks made out it was deliberate and you don’t even know the lad.

I still back him 110%, stuff Ben Arfa and stuff you pathetic club.

  • CiTyBlUe says:

What was that aye, what was that, I thought you were going to spank us.

Any wonder why you’re branded the barmy army?, you need to stop talking sht like Man United fans do.

    • Tom Jones says:

Fair play, you deserved to win and hope you win the title, but no need to be talking crap
