It’s that time of year when football pundits up and down the country are naming their Premier League Team of the Year and Sky Sports Gillette Soccer Saturday pundit and Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier wasn’t going to miss his chance.
The PFA Players’ Team of the Year for 2011/12 contained just one Newcastle United player, captain Fabricio Coloccini, but Le Tissier has plumped for two Magpies in his starting eleven.
However, the team that Newcastle are facing at St James’ Park on Sunday, Manchester City, have no less than five players in the starting eleven, making up almost half of Le Tissier’s team.
One interesting thing is that he hasn’t selected a single Manchester United player in his team, despite Sir Alex Ferguson’s men being joint top of the Premier League table and still with a real chance of winning the title.
So which Newcastle duo do you think made it into Matt Le Tissier’s 2011/12 Premier League Team of the Year?
