Newcastle United face Norwich City at St James’ Park in the Premier League later this afternoon and the Magpies will expect plenty of running from the Canaries. Here are ten stats ahead of the match…

• Newcastle lost a goal lead against Arsenal in their last Premier League game, losing 2-1.

• Hatem Ben Arfa scored the opener for Newcastle, and now has three goals in the Barclays Premier League from just 16 shots at goal.

• Yohan Cabaye covered the most ground for Newcastle in that game with 5.27 miles as Newcastle out ran Arsenal by 50.15 miles to 48.75 miles.

• Both Newcastle full backs are in the top ten defenders for crossing the ball in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index having delivered 76 and 50 putting them 2nd and 7th place. The only other club to have two defenders in the top ten are Spurs with Assou-Ekotto and Walker in 4th and 5th place.

• Norwich were held to a 1-1 draw in their last game against Wigan.

• David Fox covered the most ground in that game with 6.54 miles as Norwich out tan Wigan by 62.35 miles to 59.41 miles.

• Fox is now 5th in the Canaries’ distance charts, having covered 119.8 miles so far this season.

• Wesley Hoolahan scored for Norwich in that game with his third goal of the season, coming from 26 shots at goal with exactly half on target.

• Hoolahan also has three assists to his name this season, and is third in the list for Canaries for overall distance covered with 130 miles covered.

• Norwich remain the team to have covered the most distance collectively this season, with 1879 miles altogether. Newcastle had led this table earlier in the the season, but have now slipped to sixth in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index ranking with 1811 miles.
