Wow. Papiss Cisse had the dream Newcastle United debut as the Senegal international scored a spectacular winner in Newcastle’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at St James’ Park this afternoon. Cisse controlled Jonas Gutierrez’s cross from the left on the edge of the box, before slamming the ball into the back of the net with his left foot.

It was quite an afternoon for Cisse who only started on the bench, but soon replaced Leon Best due to injury. His compatriot Demba Ba then gave Newcastle the lead, before Robbie Keane equalised on the stroke of half-time. In the second half Cisse wasted a good chance with his head before then more than making up for that with this stunning strike.

Cisse hardly blew his own trumpet after the match, saying: “I didn’t even think that it was a beautiful goal, I was just happy to see the ball cross the line. I will remember this day because of the goal and I will work hard to get many more days like this.” I’d love to see the 26-year-old score what he defines as a cracker!

Here is the beautiful goal and apologies in advance as the video is being a little bit temperamental…
