Newcastle United made hard work of their FA Cup tie with Blackburn Rovers yesterday at St James’ Park, but eventually the Magpies scored two stunning goals to send them through to the fourth round.
Described by Alan Pardew as technically, the best goal he’s ever seen, Hatem Ben Arfa’s solo effort was a little bit special. After jinking past a few Blackburn defenders, the Frenchman then slammed the ball into the back of the net.
Just as a replay looked on the cards, Jonas Gutierrrez combined with Leon Best and delightfully chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to put Newcastle in the hat. It also saw the return of Gutierrez’s Spiderman mask!
