Newcastle United are currently fairly well blessed with goalkeepers. While the Premier League outfit’s squad is thin on the ground in many areas, between the sticks there is plenty of competition. Experienced ‘keeper Steve Harper currently has the gloves, while Dutch youngster Tim Krul is pressing his claims for an extended run in Alan Pardew’s team, and then there’s a certain goalkeeper who’s on loan at Celtic.
Fraser Forster is getting plenty of matches under his belt in the SPL, and by some accounts has done pretty well north of the border, although one Celtic expert did say, and I quote “please take that plank of wood Forster back, Championship level, nothing greater.” Perhaps he failed to notice the fantastic save that he made at the weekend (see the video below).
So would Newcastle be wise to bring back the ‘keeper who has indicated that he’s pretty happy in Glasgow, or should Neil Lennon put up a fight to keep him? Here is on loan Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster pulling off a wonder save against Rangers in the CIS Cup Final at Hampden on 20th March 2011…
