According to the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley WILL back manager Rafa Benitez with money to spend IF the Toon Army are promoted to the Premier League at the end of this current campaign.

Much has been made in regards to the Spaniard’s long-term future at St. James’ Park after the club failed to bring anyone in over the course of the January transfer market, with the 56-year-old venting his frustration publicly after the 2-2 draw with QPR.

However, he later vowed not to quit (this season at least) and this report suggests the Sports Direct mogul will splash out in the summer pending a return to the proverbial Promised Land. Prior to their relegation, the Magpies were one of the biggest spenders in European football during the summer of 2015, splashing out upwards of £50m under Steve McClaren.

Ashley’s relationship with the fans has been a rocky one ever since he bought the club back in 2007, though he is reportedly prepared to back the former Liverpool and Chelsea coach to the hilt should he win promotion back to the English elite.
