One of the major success stories of Newcastle United’s season so far has been the burgeoning central defensive partnership between Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark.
While many doubted the latter following his move from Aston Villa in the summer, the Republic of Ireland international has largely proved to be an inspired signing by Rafa Benitez.
As good as it is to see the Toon finally boasting a pairing to be proud of, it’s been quite a strange season for Chancel Mbemba.
The Congolese defender was another who looked like a great signing last term, despite the fact he was a bit raw upon his arrival from Anderlecht.
However, the 22-year-old has barely featured in the Championship and was recently linked with a return to his former club on loan.
Now, journalist Tom Davidson has shared what he’s heard about Mbemba.
@NUFC360 I've heard Mbemba doen't follow Rafa's instructions on the pitch, something of a "loose cannon". No idea how much truth in that

While it must be said he does not guarantee anything, he does reveal he’s heard the player does not follow Benitez’s instructions to the letter, which could be costing him a place this season.
