Report emanating out of Turkey today suggest Newcastle United could lose winger Christian Atsu this month, with Super Lig side Medipol Başakşehir reportedly in talks with Chelsea over the Ghanaian.
Currently away on African Cup of Nations duty with the Black Stars, the 25-year-old has played big roles in the Magpies’ wins over the likes of Norwich City, Cardiff City and Rotherham United this season. However, he hasn’t always been able to command a regular starting berth under Rafa Benitez.
Despite obviously boasting a huge degree of talent, the former FC Porto man’s career so far has been littered with failed loan stints across the continent. Still, Benitez is barely blessed with a plethora of options in wide areas, so his potential exit really would have an impact on the squad.
