Well, this one looks like taking another turn.
According to Ed Aarons, Newcastle United ARE working on a deal to bring Andros Townsend back to St. James’ Park, despite a swathe of reports yesterday suggesting a move for the 25-year-old was unlikely.
The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a return after struggling to convince at Crystal Palace and Aarons has revealed making a move for him remains a ‘priority’. Despite links with a move for Swansea City ace Mo Barrow instead, the Guardian journalist believes a deal for the Gambian is unlikely.

Townsend was a hugely popular player in black and white during his short stint between January and June 2016, though swiftly left for Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace. While he’s struggled to convince at Selhurst Park, there’s little doubt he’d be a huge coup for a side in the Championship.
Wide options are light on the ground at St. James’ Park right now as Rafa Benitez attempts to bring the Magpies back up and the pair did seem to develop a rapport during their short time together in black and white.
