For the first time in half a decade, Newcastle United will play in the FA Cup 4th-round as Rafa Benitez’s black and white army travel down to the Kassam Stadium to take on League One side Oxford United.
The Magpies disposed of Birmingham City with relative ease in the last round to set up their first tie at this stage in five years, allowing the Spaniard to change the complexion of his team, who are hell-bent on keeping up with Brighton and Hove Albion at the top of the Championship.
While the injury crisis plaguing the Magpies’ ranks is slowly beginning to soften, the 56-year-old has reverted to the relatively experimental side that got them through the last round, with the likes of Matz Sels, Massaido Haidara and Achraf Lazaar all retaining their starting berths.
Elsewhere, there’s a promising return to the team for the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Jesus Gamez at long last.
