Newcastle United’s FA Cup woe will have to wait another round at least as they romped to a relatively routine win over Championship in the FA Cup 3rd-round.
Having not won a game at this stage of the competition for FIVE years, the Magpies romped to a victory over the Blues, who were admittedly just as woeful as they were when they last visited St. James’ Park back when Garry Rowett was in charge.
Rafa Benitez expectedly made a raft of changes to a side that has been rocked by injury in recent weeks, handing the likes of Stuart Findlay, Dan Barlaser and Yasin Ben El-Mhanni their first-team debuts in a much-changed side.
There was also a return for Jonjo Shelvey, whose masterful passing range was there for all to see as the England international set up two goals within the opening 40 minutes of action as the home side romped to a 3-1 victory.
