Speaking to Italian website Tutto Mercato WebNewcastle United midfielder Achraf Lazaar has revealed that while he is happy at the club, he has heard of interest from elsewhere around the footballing globe.

The Moroccan was signed by Rafa Benitez rather late on in the transfer window and the former Palermo man has so far struggled to command much game time at St. James’ Park, though is expected to start tonight against Birmingham City.

As a result, he was left out of Morocco’s squad for the African Cup of Nations, though their loss is clearly the Magpies’ gain.

Able to operate at either left-back or further up the field, the 24-year-old has found minutes hard to come by in black and white, though did prove rather impressive in the first leg of the FA Cup 3rd round away at St. Andrew’s.

Just what teams are interested in making a move for him are not revealed, though Lazaar seems to be happy on Tyneside for now.

“I’m fine with the group, and at the club”, he said.

”We are winning so much and you know: Never change a winning team, so I’m finding little space as a professional and I try to show my qualities. I know what I’m worth and where I can get.”

“But me no. I’m good at Newcastle. I’ve heard of some teams, I’m glad. But I’m happy here and I want to be a leader.”
