According to the Daily Mail’s transfer column, Crystal Palace have held FURTHER talks about the possibility of selling Andros Townsend to Newcastle United.

Reports over the weekend linked the 25-year-old with a return to Tyneside, where he spent around six months after joining from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2016. Since leaving the Magpies upon their relegation from the Premier League, the England international has struggled in south London.

When he left those in black and white, the winger cited his desire to win a place back in the England squad and, while that has proved to be the case, has seriously seen a downturn in form since swapping Tyne for the Thames.

So much so in fact, he was part of an expensively assembled squad that failed to keep Alan Pardew in a job at Selhurst Park.

With that in mind, it’s believed Sam Allardyce’s struggling Eagles have held further discussions about the idea of his quick-fire return to St. James’ Park. As things stand, the Magpies are struggling in wide areas with Christian Atsu away on international duty with Ghana at the African Cup of Nations.
