According to Turkish outlet Fanatik (via Sport Witness), Super Lig side Bursaspor are keen on monitoring the situation of Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote.

The Ivorian midfielder is also thought to be a target of La Liga side Sporting Gijon’s as his time on Tyneside draws to a close, with just six months left on his deal with the club he joined back on 2010.

Despite his standing as one of the Toon’s longest serving players, the 30-year-old has little future under Rafa Benitez at St. James’ Park and his final appearance could well have come against Birmingham City in the FA Cup last weekend.

He almost moved to Istanbul over the course of the summer, though saw a move to Galatasaray break down as a result of a failed medical.

To that end, Bursaspor are said to have asked for a detailed review of his medical reports before making a move for him.
