According to the Guardian, Premier League table toppers Chelsea may consider a surprising move for Newcastle United ‘keeper Tim Krul, should they sell Asmir Begovic.

The latter has been linked with a move to Bournemouth of late and Blues manager Antonio Conte is believed to be ready to allow the Bosnian stopper a move away to play first-team games, with Krul cited as a potential option to replace him.

The Dutchman, who penned a new deal at St. James’ Park before joining Ajax on a season-long loan, is yet to play in the Dutch capital after struggling to find his best form following a lengthy absence as a result of a knee injury.

He’s the Toon’s longest-serving player, having made his debut over a decade ago in a UEFA Cup clash with Palermo, though the likes of Karl Darlow, Matz Sels and Rob Elliot are currently available to Rafa Benitez between the posts.

It’s not the first time the Blues have been linked with a move for a Magpies star, having previously been touted as a potential suitor for skipper Jamaal Lascelles.
