As Newcastle United crush all before them in the Championship, many are citing Rafa Benitez’s team as one of the best to ever play at this level.

Though things are never easy at this level, the summer business conducted on Tyneside looks like paying off for the Magpies, despite the departure of a number of big names following their relegation from the Premier League.

Still, it seems as if there has been a feeling amongst some of the other fans in the second tier this season that the Toon Army are simply buying their way to the title.

Clearly, the budget to keep Benitez at St. James’ Park is not readily available to other teams in the league, though the nature of their transfer dealings in the close season was clever.

Considering the huge amounts of money raised from player sales, the club actually didn’t spend a lot at all.

In fact, as tweeted by @NewcastleStats, the club made around £30m in profit, while Championship strugglers Aston Villa LOST around £33m.
