Newcastle target coy on future amid January transfer rumours

Reported Newcastle United Wilfried Ndidi has remained coy on his future with current club Genk when talking to Belgian outlet Het Belang Van Limberg

The 19-year-old has been touted as a potential target for the Toon Army recently after impressing in Belgium, with Premier League champions Leicester City also understood to be keen on the midfield powerhouse.

Also able to operate in central defence, the talented teen has already represented Nigeria at international level, such are the nature of his performances for Genk.

The Magpies are in a strong financial position heading into the New Year sales after a busy summer of activity under Rafa Benitez.

Cheick Tiote doesn’t have a future under the Spaniard’s watch and the Super Eagles international may well be a youthful replacement for the Ivorian should he leave when January comes.

When pressed his future, Ndidi remained coy and suggested he doesn’t know if he will be playing in Belgium for much longer.

Newcastle have moved for the likes of Matz Sels, Chancel Mbemba and Aleksandar Mitrovic from within the Belgian market of late, to varying success.
