Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez will be told by top brass at St. James’ Park that he is under NO pressure to sell some of his prized assets.

Such is the nature of the Magpies’ start to life in the Championship, Chelsea were recently linked with an £18m move for skipper Jamaal Lascelles.

The 22-year-old has come on leaps and bounds since the Spaniard took over and is reportedly on Antonio Conte’s radar to replace captain John Terry in the long-term.

However, the Northern Echo have revealed that the former Liverpool and Real Madrid coach will be handed assurances that no one will be sold unless he approves it, even if a big money offer comes in.

Benitez was handed unprecedented control of the Magpies when he agreed to stay in charge despite their relegation and owner Mike Ashley is said to have been impressed with the manner in which the 56-year-old has changed the mood on Tyneside.

With that in mind, it’s believed he is happy with their financial position right now and will not buckle.
