Simply one of the best midfielders to have played in the Premier League, Gary Speed is a hugely iconic figure amongst both sets of supporters.

Having won the First Division title with the Whites, he’d join the Toon later on in his career and became a monolithic figure in their engine room as they fought for domestic honours.
