Perhaps unsurprisingly, Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels has been linked with a move away from the club in January.
The Belgian only arrived at St. James’ Park over the course of the summer and started the season as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, though has recently been dropped in favour of Karl Darlow.
Ever since the draw with Aston Villa, he’s been relegated to substitute duty and the notion of him returning to his homeland to regain his confidence perhaps isn’t as crazy as it initially sounds.
With Rob Elliot close to returning to full fitness and the presence of young Freddie Woodman able to back the ex-Nottingham Forest stopper up between the sticks, perhaps Sels would be well advised to regain some confidence back home.
Could he be the only one to be on his merry way though?
Rafa Benitez has a big squad to contend on Tyneside and could certainly use shedding a few players.
