NEC defender Dario Dumic has remained coy on his future with the Dutch club amid links, with a move to Newcastle United.

The Magpies are understood to be keen on the 24-year-old, along with Eredivisie side Heerenveen after the defender impressed for his current charges.

Oddly enough, he started his career with Norwich City, though failed to make an appearance for the Canaries, before moving to Denmark with Brondby.

He later joined his current club on loan initially, before making that a more permanent affair earlier this year.

In reference to the links, the Bosnian-born defender has hinted that while he’s happy in Holland right now, you never know what can happen in football.

“I myself heard nothing. I want to stay here, but you never know what happens in football”, he told Omroep Gelderland.

”Now I focus entirely on the situation here. We have to stay in the Eredivisie and we are fighting for it.”

Whether or not a move for the defender remains to be seen, though the Toon Army are currently well stocked in defensive areas under Rafa Benitez right now.

The likes of Ciaran Clark and Grant Hanley were brought in over the summer to compete with talents such as Jamaal Lascelles and Chancel Mbemba in central defence.
