As popular as he is on Tyneside, Aleksandar Mitrovic cannot seem to get a game under Rafa Benitez yet.
The Serbian forward is behind Dwight Gayle in the ranks at St. James’ Park, with the former Crystal Palace ace notching seven goals in black and white thus far.
Still, the 22-year-old was in fine fettle for his country over the weekend, scoring twice in their win 3-0 win over Austria.
Though the Toon Army have so much still to play for and nothing can be taken as read, would the former Anderlecht man be better as a Premier League option should Benitez earn promotion?
Obviously, his first year wasn’t great, but the fiery forward would potentially have another year of developing.
Gayle too has played in the top tier, though was deemed not good enough by the Eagles and ultimately dropped down the league structure in order to find more frequent football.
