Newcastle right back DeAndre Yedlin believes the strength of the Magpies squad means the club are able to field a strong team no matter the circumstances.

The American international signed from Tottenham in the summer for £5million and despite his high profile move, he has yet to establish himself as a regular first team player despite performing strongly in matches.

Manager Rafa Benitez has rotated his side this campaign and has picked Vurnon Anita regularly at full back in Yedlin’s place. Both full backs have contributed to Newcastle keeping three clean sheets in the last four league matches, and Yedlin told the Chronicle that he can’t quite believe the squad the Magpies have at their disposal:

“It is unbelievable how much depth we have in the squad. We feel like we can put anybody on the field and they’ll do the job. We have a strong team, we just need to keep pushing and stay at the top.”

Yedlin and his team mates will face Preston in the League Cup at St James’ Park tomorrow night, and it is likely Rafa Benitez will utilise the full depth of his squad by giving chances to some players who haven’t started in recent matches.
