Newcastle right back DeAndre Yedlin has praised his team mate Vurnon Anita for his performances so far this season.

The American international told BBC Newcastle that he is keen to learn from the Dutchman after the twenty seven year old helped him settle in on Tyneside:

“He’s been unbelievable. He is a guy that I have been absorbing a lot from in training and I want to learn as much as I can from him. He’s also been a big help to me and taken me under his wing as soon as I came in. He’s a great guy and I am learning a lot from him position-wise.”

With Anita suspended after his late sending off against Wolves in the league match at St James’ Park last weekend, Yedlin is the firm favourite to start at right back against Aston Villa tomorrow evening.

Spanish full back Jesus Gamez is also struggling to regain full fitness after picking up a calf injury, and Yedlin will be keen to capitalise on the misfortunes of his two rivals to cement a place in Rafa Benitez’s starting eleven.

The American cost Newcastle £5million from Tottenham in the summer but only started his first game for the Magpies against Wolves in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
