Newcastle full back Paul Dummett believes the match against Norwich City tomorrow night could be a crucial match in the Championship promotion race.

The Welsh international was asked about the importance of the match by the Evening Chronicle and he agrees with pundits that the match is an important six-pointer which could be a deciding factor at the end of the season:

“It’s definitely a six-pointer.We know it will be a tough game as they are top of the league. We knew it was going to be tough at Aston Villa, but we didn’t lose it. It should have been three points. We need to stay up there and put ourselves in a strong position for the second half of the season.”

After the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at the weekend, the Magpies find themselves in fifth place on 16 points from nine games with Norwich four points ahead on 20 at the top of the table.

Dummett is continuing to keep signing Achraf Lazaar out of the starting line up at left back, and once again started at Villa Park last Saturday after being replaced by the Moroccan against Wolves in the EFL Cup in the previous match. The 25 year old will be hoping to start again for Newcastle tomorrow night.
