Newcastle United have made contact with FC Utrecht about signing their striker Sebastian Haller, according to sources close to the Magpies reports the Evening Chronicle.

Rumours started circulating yesterday after reports in France emerged about Newcastle’s interest with L’Equipe reporting that Sporting Lisbon were also interested in signing the Frenchman. The same report mentioned that Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande offered €15million earlier in the summer but the move was rejected by the player.

The Evening Chronicle in contrast say Haller would be available for £6million so we will have to wait and see how much Utrecht will hold out for the 22 year old. The Shields Gazette also believe that Monaco could be in for the forward which would complicate the move further. It is widely believed that Rafa Benitez wants a target man signed before the end of the transfer window and it seems as if Haller has been made the Magpies’ number one priority before deadline day.
