Newcastle Under 21 coach Peter Beardsley has hailed the ability of young winger Yasin Ben El-Mhanni after the 20 year old turned in a top class performance for the reserves against Corby Town at the weekend.

El-Mhanni contributed greatly to the 3-0 win and Beardsley believes that if the player can learn the defensive side of the game, he could have a huge future at the club. He told the Evening Chronicle:

“He’s got unbelievable ability. I would say, without being negative, he needs to learn the game. By that I mean going forward he’ll never have a problem because he’s got brilliant talent, but obviously he needs to know when to defend, when to help, when to get himself organised but a great kid.”

The winger has been playing in non-league football with the likes of Farnborough and Lewes but his talent was spotted by a number of Premier League scouts, and the Magpies had to fight off competition from the likes of Arsenal, Leicester City and Norwich City to sign the player this summer. The Toon Army will be hoping the 20 year old will quickly develop all facets of his game so he is ready to unleash his talents in the first team in the not too distant future.
