Lazio are continuing to monitor the situation regarding Newcastle winger Florian Thauvin, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The Italian journalist and so-called transfer expert for Sky Sport Italia believes the Frenchman is still on the Serie A side’s radar if star midfielder Antonio Candreva leaves the Stadio Olimpico.
Candreva’s move to Napoli stalled earlier this summer but the 29 year old is now believed to be close to a move to Inter Milan, although there has yet to be official confirmation on the transfer.
If the move does indeed go ahead, Lazio may turn their attentions to Thauvin. The Frenchman was linked with a move to Italy earlier this summer when his mentor at Marseille, Marcelo Bielsa, was expected to takeover at Lazio. The Argentinian subsequently quit after just two days due to a dispute over broken promises on transfers, but it seems Thauvin is still a target.
