Newcastle United are reportedly readying an offer for Coventry City striker Bassala Sambou, who is also coveted by Everton, The Liverpool Echo report.
The 18-year-old has spurned the opportunity to sign a professional contract at the Ricoh Arena and as such looks set to move to a bigger club in the summer.
The Toffees were expected to win the race for the teenager’s signature, but Roberto Martinez is said to have stalled on a move as he wants to scout the player personally.
As such, a window of opportunity has opened for Newcastle to potentially steal the versatile attacker from under Everton’s noses.
Sambou has netted 25 goals for Coventry’s youth teams this season and is regarded as a rising star at the League One club.
With every chance that Newcastle could well be playing in The Championship next season, the striker could be in the first-team running should he opt to move to St James’ Park.
