Former Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham star Joe Cole has compared current teammate Adam Armstrong to Man City star Sergio Aguero, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.

Cole, who was capped over 50 times at international level, has joined Armstrong on loan at League One outfit Coventry in recent weeks, and is clearly impressed with what he sees.

The teenager netted his FIFTH brace of the season over Barnsley, taking his tally up to 12 goals in 14 outings for the Sky Blues. The 18-year old is now the highest scorer so far this season in the Football League, and was recently nominated for the division’s Player of the Month award.

As a result, he has earned high praise from his trophy laden teammate, who thrice lifted the Premier League with Chelsea, as well as reaching the Champions League final in 2008.

‘Armstrong reminds me of Aguero in a way – he’s of the build and hungry for goals’, stated Cole, who joined the club last month on a short loan basis.

‘That’s a massive statement but he’s got that stocky stature and he turns and twists and he can finish.’

The young striking sensation has a long way to go before he’s considered in the same company as Aguero, one of the elite forwards in world football, but looks to be destined for a bright future.

He was part of the England Under-17 squad that won the European Championships for their age group last summer, along with Toon teammate Freddie Woodman.

Argentine ace Aguero, ironically enough, netted a stunning 5 times in less than half an hour over the Magpies last month as league leaders City romped to a 6-1 win at the Etihad.
