Disgraceful Arsenal star embarrasses himself against Newcastle

Francis CoquelinReferee Andre Marriner didn’t cover himself in much glory in the Premier League encounter between Newcastle United and Arsenal at St James’ Park yesterday, but he wasn’t helped by Arsene Wenger’s players, most notably Francis Coquelin.

In addition to the red card given to Aleksandar Mitrović, Marriner handed out seven yellow cards during the course of the game, with six of those going to Newcastle players, including recent signing Florian Thauvin.

You could argue that the Frenchman deserved a yellow card for his rash tackle, but the behaviour from his compatriot was nothing short of embarrassing and if he watched the below back Coquelin should be truly ashamed…

It’s these sort of antics that make referees jobs so difficult and as if the jump from the floor wasn’t enough, he decided to throw in a few rolls afterwards for good measure.

This from the player that Wenger is touting as the defensive lynchpin in this midfield, I’m not sure you’d ever see Patrick Vieira acting like that!

Been to many matches NUFC fans and as a gooner think they are amoung the best fans out there. I don’t know what is going on at your club, your owner, you managers (steve Mclaren – Really). I can understand why you are frustrated before the team even take to the pitch. The gooners were bad, so what does that say about your team and manager. Suprised Steve hasn’t developed a Gordie accent like his Dutch one – the guy hasn’t a clue guys. “lets be physical with them” must have been the call …. but he didn’t tell them to play football as well. Peta didn’t have to make 1 save. Really sad to see you all having a winge, it was the right result and should have been more. Sonetimes you have to be frustrated with your players and manager, not the other team who deserved the win. If given the choice between “southern Softies” who play football or “Nothern Thugs” who were playing …. well I dunno what they were playing – I would take the “Southern softies” any day of the week …. sad that NUFC have now slipped in my estimation now :/

Your genius manger decided on tactics from a bygone era- park the bus and kick opposition off the field. It didn’t work, simple as that. 28% possession and not a single shot on target plus stonewalled penalty for Arsenal not given. Enough said. You call us fairies and all you lot do is cry like little girls.

Oh come off it Newcastle on Saturday didn’t use their heads and were overly physical with coquelin and monreal being the main victims. Of the refereeing standard mariner had a pretty decent game . Either maclaren has been explicit in how he wants newcastle to play or the players have not adhered to what he wants. Either way newcastles problem may not be quality of signings they have made but how many suspensions they get this season. I think they will make top half of table and a good cup run
