enner valenciaNewcastle United have been linked with a £7 million for Ecuador striker Enner Valencia today by the Metro.

Coming in to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil you may have only been aware of one Valencia, that being Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia who today has signed a new contract with the Red Devils, but it is his namesake making all the headlines.

Enner Valencia bagged a brace in Ecuador’s 2-1 win over Honduras yesterday, bringing his tournament tally to three as he also netted in the 2-1 loss to Switzerland.

The 25-year-old forward has now scored seven international goals in just 12 matches and is starting to make a name for himself.

Valencia only signed for Mexican club Pachuca in January but has scored a very impressive 18 goals in 23 league matches.

Also being watched by Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle will have to move quickly if they want to get their man.

However, they have been burned when buying strikers post World Cups before; Stéphane Guivarc’h anyone?
