opta tableNewcastle United and Liverpool both find themselves in the top half of the Premier League table, with the Reds as high as second, but there’s one table that has Liverpool at the top and Newcastle at the bottom.

Much has been made of the amount of Newcastle’s goals this season that have been scored by Frenchmen.

On loan QPR striker Loic Remy is the Magpies’ top goalscorer with 13, Premier League goals, then there’s St James’ Park specialist Yoan Gouffran with 6 and Hatem Ben Arfa with 3.

Moussa Sissoko even netted a brace at the weekend against Hull City to take him to the same tally and PSG’s Yohan Cabaye scored a good few goals as well.

Given this, it is no surprise that in Opta’s table that ranks teams in accordance with goals scored by English players, then Newcastle are rock bottom.

Alan Pardew’s men are the only Premier League team with zero in this column, with the next closest being Manchester City on one, although Welshman Paul Dummett has got himself on the scoresheet.

At the other end of the spectrum are Liverpool who have netted 36 goals scored by Englishmen, largely thanks to the prolific Daniel Sturridge, penalty specialist Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson.

Luckily this is not actually a thing!
