Today we learnt that PSG made a £14 million offer for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye, a bid that was duly rejected.

This follows on from Arsenal’s £10m bid in the summer, and while PSG have upped the stakes to some extent, their offer is still well below Newcastle’s £20m valuation of Cabaye.

The 28-year-old has been the subject of constant chat and admiration from PSG manager Laurent Blanc, and this undervaluation of Cabaye will further distract him from his playing duties on Tyneside.

Newcastle signed Cabaye for £4.3m back in 2011 and while they could cash in for a huge profit, the Magpies won’t want to lose their best player.

Cabaye has refocused and gone from strength to strength this season, with his excellent form illustrated in no better way than his last game against West Ham in the Premier League when he netted twice.

@NUFC_Banter have put together this great image that shows Alan Pardew’s (and every Newcastle fan’s) reaction to the news that Cabaye could be on the move as he tries to stop him leaving…
