Joey Barton and Kevin NolanWest Ham manager Sam Allardyce is set to re-unite Newcastle United trio Kevin Nolan, Andy Carroll and Joey Barton by signing the latter from QPR this summer according to the Sunday People.

With Newcastle United transfer rumours fairly thin on the ground this morning, with the main stories being that the Magpies are paying all of Loic Remy’s £80,000-a-week a wages and that the move for Bafetimbi Gomis continues to stall, their early season Premier League opponents are looking to recruit more ex-Newcastle players.

Newcastle United host West Ham at St James’ Park in their first home game of the 2013/14 Premier League season on Saturday 24th August and they could well be lining up against three former Magpies.

Carroll is fighting to be fit for that match as he recovers from a heel injury, but Nolan will be there and looking to score at SJP for the second year in a row and don’t be surprised if Barton turns up in a West Ham shirt as well.

Barton and Allardyce have a lot of respect for each other, with Big Sam paying £5.8 million for the former Manchester City midfielder in 2007, and focusing his Newcastle team around him for large parts.

Joey has started the season well for QPR in the Championship since returning from his loan spell with Marseille, and the 30-year-old still has enough quality to play at the highest level in English football.

Could be something of a get together on Tyneside in two weeks’ time…
