Curtis GoodNewcastle United take on League Two outfit Morecambe at the Globe Arena in Round 2 of the Capital One Cup this evening and the Magpies have named competition finalist from last year Curtis Good in their starting XI.

Curtis Good went all the way to Wembley last year with Bradford City, also of League Two, and Newcastle manager Alan Pardew will be hoping that he can use that experience to guide the Magpies to a similar stage this year.

This is a competition that Newcastle need to do well in as it is an opportunity to win some silverware, but Pardew has named a pretty inexperienced team.

Frenchman Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa will lead Newcastle, playing alongside Good in the heart of the defence, with Mathieu Debuchy, Sylvain Marveaux and Yohan Gouffran the other ‘first-teamers’ in the starting XI.

Here’s the team in full, with Newcastle lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation…

Elliot; Debuchy, Yanga-Mbiwa (c), Good, Dummett; Bigirimana, Gosling; Sammy Ameobi, Vuckic, Marveaux; Gouffran.

It’s good to see Haris Vuckic get a run out and it is an opportunity for the Slovenian to show some of the potential that he has.

The bench is as follows…

Subs: Alnwick, Santon, Streete, Anita, Sissoko, Ben Arfa, Shola Ameobi.

Let’s hope that team is good enough to get Newcastle into Round 3 of the Capital One Cup.
