Florian ThauvinNewcastle United and Arsenal have been tracking French attacking midfielder Florian Thauvin in recent weeks and his club Lille would be willing to sell for 10 Million Euros (£8.5m) according to Le 10 Sport.

20-year-old Thauvin only signed a four-and-a-half deal with Lille in January, with him promptly being sent back on loan to Bastia until the end of the season.

The fee was just 3.5m Euros, which would explain why Lille would be willing to sell him for nearly three times that price despite him never having played for the French club.

Marseille are thought to have been tracking Thauvin very closely, a club that Newcastle are far from happy with given their pursuit for Magpies target Bafetimbi Gomis.

While Lille wouldn’t be keen to sell to their Ligue 1 rivals, they could be tempted to sell to a club from the Premier League, whether that’s Newcastle or Arsenal, and make a significant profit.

Thauvin was on fire at the back end of last season, scoring seven times in 12 Ligue 1 appearances for Bastia in his loan spell, and in the process showing how he’s one of the country’s hottest prospects.

However, would the Gunners or Magpies really spend so much on the French youngster given the fee that he was sold for in January?

When are we ever going to learn, why are we again flirting with FRENCH LEAGUE 1 PLAYER’S,DOES Wenger and Gazidas never learn,Have they not taken note of yesterday’s performance or lack of it.We must start looking at real player’s that are really going to improve and strengthen our squad. For to long now we have been the bridesmaid its time we started to set out sights a lot higher.

Hang on a minute, where does it say that Arsenal is actually interested in this player? This is just media blah blah. Every Arsenal fan is livid with this Summer’s shambles but lets get wound up by the real issues, not fairy tales in the media.

We didn’t really play badly yesterday, it was just a game where everything went against us. We made plenty of chances and they scored the important goals from penalties, one of which could not have been given because Weimann had a shot at an empty goal, and the other was a good tackle, then we got Kos sent off for 2 non-fouls. It’s just the timing of it really, had it happened when we were in a good run of form the referee would have been blamed but because the pressure is on at the moment everyone’s blaming Wenger.
And in any case, this kid is really very good and would improve the squad so if he’s really available for that then we should get him imo. Couldn’t care less which country he’s from but we’ve actually had a lot of success buying from Ligue 1, as have many other sides, so I don’t see your point at all.

Well I don’t think Newcastle will buy anyone and just stick with what they have.

I agree. We seem to buy in January after everyone else have spent their budget meaning we get a player and bang for our buck.

Arsenal should buy Julio Ceaser,a durable and constant 4,then possibly tip Suarezs’ agent….GBP 80 is in the bank..or else its gonna be worse

Now its getting towards the end of the transfer window it seems the Toon are being linked with any player thats up for sale or players that are unsettled at their clubs.. Its becoming a bit rediculous now, but then again, this is Newcastle Utd I’m talking about!!!
