Joshua GuilavoguiAs the future of Yohan Cabaye continues to be as clear as mud, Arsenal are looking for alternative transfer targets and Newcastle United are still looking for potential replacements, and the Daily Mail has come up with one name for both clubs: Josuha Guilavogui.

Guilavogui currently plies his trade for St Etienne in Ligue 1 in France and the powerful 6ft 2in defensive midfielder has already been named by some as the ‘next Patrick Vieira’, with Vieira of course having bucket loads of success for Arsenal at Highbury.

22-year-old, Guilavogui interestingly went to the same primary school as Bafetimbi Gomis, another of Newcastle’s transfer targets, and Gomis actually helped a young Joshua during his time at St Etienne.

Guilavogui’s rise to prominence has been pretty rapid since making his club debut in 2009, as he is now the vice-captain for the Ligue 1 and has already played three times for the French national team.

As a defensive midfielder, Guilavogui can also be employed in a centre back role, but it is in the middle of the park that he has impressed both Arsenal and Newcastle.

A move to Arsenal looks more likely at this stage, as Cabaye may well play for Newcastle at home to Fulham in the Premier League tomorrow afternoon, although the Gunners have just re-signed Mathieu Flamini from AC Milan.

If Cabaye was to move to PSG before the transfer window slams shut though, expect Josuha Guilavogui to be one of the players that Joe Kinnear will enquire about bringing to St James’ Park as a replacement.
