Newcastle winger Sylvain MarveauxNewcastle United take on Chelsea at St James’ Park in the Premier League this afternoon and while Yohan Cabaye might be the Magpies’ creative force, he is being out-gunned by another Frenchman…

– Goals from Papiss Cisse and Yohan Cabaye secured three points for Alan Pardew’s Newcastle, as they came out on top against Aston Villa following a 2-1 win.

– Yohan Cabaye has been one of Newcastle’s standout performers since his relatively unheralded arrival from Ligue 1 and while he continues to be their primary creative outlet, Alan Pardew will be looking for a greater end-product in the next phase of the season. Cabaye has delivered a squad-high 44 crosses, yet has only notched up 1 assist.

– Fellow Frenchman Sylvain Marveaux has not been suffering from the same problem however, have registered 5 assists despite only playing 716 minutes according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index.

– Should Fabricio Coloccini leave in the summer, he will leave a huge hole for Alan Pardew to fill. He has the best tackle success rate in the Newcastle squad, having won 79% of his 34 challenges.

– Goals from midfield duo Juan Mata and Frank Lampard were not enough to claim a win for Rafa Benitez’s side as Chelsea drew 2-2 at the Madjeski.

– Creative dynamo Eden Hazard has acclimatised well in his short Premier League to date, the aggressive style of defending doing little to curb his attacking instincts. He’s joint 5th on the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index for dribbles with 27.

– Ever-green midfielder Frank Lampard continues to perform at the highest level, despite uncertainties surrounding his future. Lampard has scored the joint highest number of goals for Chelsea this season with 8, and has an impressive 68% accuracy rate in front of goal from his 28 attempts.

– Juan Mata’s impact on this Chelsea team cannot be underestimated according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. The Spanish international is the conduit for all of Chelsea play, having completed 689 passes in the opponent’s half, as well as registering 11 assists and 8 goals.
