There are just a couple of days until the 2013 January transfer window slams shut and with the clock ticking for Newcastle United to bring in new players, it seems like the penny has dropped as the Magpies made great additions to their squad.

Time really was of the essence for the Magpies last week, as Newcastle’s squad was in desperate need of strengthening as the Toon battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Time isn’t something you get much of in the January transfer window, as the closer you get to deadline day, the more of a mad rush it becomes to sign players.

You can do all the preparation in the world before January, but as shown with Newcastle’s pursuit of French striker Loic Remy, things don’t always go to plan.

However, with the arrival of four more Frenchman to St James’ Park, it appears that the Newcastle hierarchy have got the message and are making their move.

The ticking clock is at the heart of the new Guinness advert ‘Clock’, which is released this month. It tells the story of this clock that doesn’t settle for the ordinary (sound familiar?) and starts to control time to enhance townspeople’s lives.

In the video below to get a second chance the seconds spin backwards, which is something Newcastle would have benefited from this season as their current Premier League campaign has been a disaster to date…
