Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Bordeaux defender Ludovic Sane according to Sud-Quest, while teammate Yoan Gouffran could also be on Alan Pardew’s January shopping list.
25-year-old Ludovic Sane is something of a man mountain, standing at 6ft 4in tall and with plenty of physical presence to his game.
Mainly used as a centre back, Sane can also play in the middle of the park and would be a good addition to Newcastle’s squad.
Sane has been with Bordeaux since 2009, making more than 50 appearances in Ligue 1 for the south of France side.
Since then Sane has played six times for Senegal, and if he were to join Newcastle he would team up with compatriot Papiss Cisse.
Newcastle came up against Sane earlier this season in the Europa League, where he looked like a pretty solid player.
Sane is also thought to be interesting West Ham and has said: “I am settled here and I like Bordeaux. But if there is a situation where everyone is a winner, anything can happen.”
Sane’s current teammate Yoan Gouffran is also getting attention this side of the Channel, and with the 26-year-old’s contract ending in the summer, Newcastle could be tempted into making a bid.
