Demba Ba is a striker in high demand, what with Arsenal, Liverpool and Anzhi Makhachkala all interested in the Newcastle United goal machine, but with the Gunners unwilling to give Theo Walcott more than £80,000 a week, would Arsene Wenger really shell out £90,000 on Ba?

The Mirror is reporting that Demba Ba has told the Newcastle hierarchy that he will not sign a new contract that is worth anything less than £90,000 a week, that will in all likelihood mean that his time with the Magpies will come to an end sooner rather than later.

However, those demands could also see his time in the Premier League come to an end, with Arsenal, Liverpool and even big spending QPR unlikely to shell out that much on the in-form 27-year-old.

Out of that Premier League trio, Arsenal are the only club who can offer Ba something that he’s not currently experiencing in the north-east – Champions League football, but under Wenger haven’t tended to loosen their financial belt.

That is currently in evidence in regards to Theo Walcott, as the England international’s contract continues to wind down, with the Gunners unwilling to offer him any more cash and risking losing the pacey winger on the cheap.

So you could go as far as ruling out a move to Arsenal in January for Ba, but will his wage demands ensure he stays with Newcastle in the short-term, or will Anzhi add the Senegal striker to their very expensive wage bill alongside the likes of Samuel Eto’o?

See who Newcastle are lining up as a potential replacement for Demba Ba.
