Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote As Newcastle United’s players posed for their 2012/13 squad photo at the training ground today, there was one thing that caused a stir – not Alan Pardew’s new eight-year contract but Cheick Tiote’s tattoo!

Cheick Tiote has been absent for most of the 2012/13 Premier League season so far due to injury, but the Ivorian came on against Norwich City at St James’ Park at the weekend and started in the Capital One Cup against Manchester United at Old Trafford last night.

Newcastle’s midfielder terrier understandably looked short of match fitness, but his return will be a massive boost to manager Alan Pardew, who will want to unite Tiote with Yohan Cabaye and re-form his central midfield partnership that did so well last season.

While there is little respite in Newcastle’s hectic schedule this season, the players and staff found some time for the annual squad photo to be taken this morning, with everyone at the club kitted out in their club apparel.

Cheick Tiote took his place in the front row alongside coach John Carver and Argentinian midfielder Jonas Gutierrez, but instead of posing for the photographer, the players seemed to be more interested in Tiote’s tattoo.
