At the weekend, Newcastle United’s players showed their support for injured teammate Ryan Taylor by wearing tracksuits saying ‘over the wall’ ahead of the Premier League match with Aston Villa, and now the same thing has been mocked up for his fellow Magpie on the treatment table: Danny Simpson.

Newcastle right back Danny Simpson limped off in the first half against Aston Villa after he pulled his hamstring and now faces a race against time to be bit for the Toon’s next Premier League encounter against Everton at Goodison Park a week on Monday.

As the Magpies failed to bring in Mathieu Debuchy during the transfer window, Simpson was Newcastle’s only front line right back, but as it happens versatile Dutchman Vurnon Anita acquitted himself very well in that position.

He got up and down the right flank well, delivered some decent balls into the box and looked assured in defence, in a performance that will more than likely girth him the starting berth against the Toffees.

But back to Danny Simpson. On Twitter @lloyd_davies88 has mocked up tracksuits for Cheick Tiote who goes ‘through the player’, James Perch who ‘plays anywhere’ and Simpson’s speciality, at least for last season, which is saving balls ‘off the line’…

Danny Simpson off the line

Nice work Lloyd.
