Alan Pardew aka Robert De NiroNewcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed which Hollywood star he’d like to play him if a biopic was made of Pards’ life: the one and only Robert De Niro.

Robert De Niro’s classic performances in films such as “Goodfellas”, “Raging Bull” and perhaps to a lesser extent “Meet the Fockers” have earned him the dream casting call from UK’s top football managers to take on the lead role in a film based on their lives.

Over 30 managers including Newcastle’s very own Alan Pardew were asked the question as part of Yahoo’s exclusive series of interviews with members of the League Managers Association. De Niro emerged as the clear favourite to play the managers in a film of their lives.

Pardew, along with former Newcastle managers Glenn Roeder and Kevin Keegan, as well as Martin Jol and Steve Coppell all picked De Niro. The managers’ wishful thinking also saw Clint Eastwood and George Clooney tied in second as they shared 20% of the vote.

However, Brad Pitt’s most demanding role to date could come in the form of Mick McCarthy if the former Republic of Ireland manager got his wish. Fortunately Mr Jolie won’t have to reprise the dodgy “Oirish” accent that he failed to conjure up in the Belfast-set thriller, The Devil’s Own.

Roberto Mancini, who is always the picture of cool on the touchline, sees himself as a bit of a secret agent and nominated any James Bond actor to play him on the big screen. As the head honcho at City, surely he’d be 001.
